The proposal by CopperChem re above project is utter madness and sets a real danger to the Tambo River over and above the current pollution entering that river from the existing tailings dam.
The minister must immediately bring in legislation which prevents this and any further applications from developing such a truly reckless scheme considering all the past mistakes and inability of all departments to quell the leakage to the Tambo River.
As time progress's further issues are bound to occur which can cause human life to be at risk and the Gippsland Lakes system which is the ultimate destination of these polluted waters.
I cannot imagine how a government with environmental responsibility for the regions quality of life can allow such a wreck less scheme to go ahead.

Absolutely scary what our government will allow. If this dam fails, think of the consequences for the Gippsland Lakes. More dollars than they would ever dig out of the ground along with environmental damage and lifestyle of millions of people that enjoy the Gippsland Lakes catchment.
They are playing with something that you cannot put a price on for a resource that has a limit.

I am a landholder along the Tambo River and I object strongly to any project that could pollute the river or disturb its flow. Contamination would devastate the flora and fauna along the river which would have an influence further afield including the Gippsland Lakes and the communities nearby.
The health of the environment must be priority number one and the proposed mining infrastructure simply cannot guarantee no environmental harm. I strongly object to the proposal.
